Pay attention, Allah has mentioned eight things: Parents, Sons, Brothers, Relatives, Wealth, Crops, Orchards, and Trade, and stated if a man loves anything over this love for Allah and his Prophet PBUH and over doing jihad in the way of Allah, then he should prepare himself for the scourge of Allah.

It means that we must love Allah and His Prophet PBUH more than anything else in the world and even the whole universe. Now if your parents tell you that you should not go to hear the sermon of a certain Maulana – and you decide to obey them – are they not asking you to love your parents more than Allah? I will explain with examples.

The wife of the Prophet PBUH was the daughter of Abu Sufian. And Abu Sufian had not yet embraced Islam. He thought of visiting his daughter. His daughter Umme Habiba saw him approaching and opened the door. He saw the bed of the Prophet PBUH laid out on a cot and came and sat on it. Umme Habiba saw him doing that and asked him to get up from the bed. Abu Sufian thought the she probably wanted to give him a better bed. But she folded the bedding of the Prophet PBUH up and told him to sit instead on the bare cot. He asked why she had done that. She replied that mushrik is in fact impure and unclean and you have not yet embraced Islam and I cannot bear that you should sit on his bedding as a mushrik. This is the example of love of Allah over and above the love of the parents.

And what are we doing? Our houses are already unclean because we keep the films of other people like Indians in our homes and we have the spinning wheel of shamelessness in our homes, the VCR. And there is the TV cable; and those who should spend the entire night repeating the praise of the Prophet PBUH are busy seeing Indian films and songs.

If you love someone you must also do what he likes you to do. Look at how Umme Habiba acted!

Some days ago, a judge in the Court asked a minister if you have a degree in religious knowledge please tell us the name of the first Sura of the Quran. The Minister said Sura Fateha. The Court asked what is the name of the second Sura of the Quran? He said Sura Ale Imran. The Court asked how many are the total number of Ayaat (Verses) in the Quran. The Minister said he did not know. The Court asked about the number of ruku (bending) and the minister said he did not know. The minister had his degree from Wifaqul Madaris but could not answer the questions.

A Companion Saad bin Abi Waqqas embraced Islam. Was that not a good act? If Manmohan Singh the Prime Minister of India embraces Islam would it not be a good act? If Tony Blair and Bush embrace Islam that too would be a good act. We extend the invitation to them all, asking them to come into the pale of Islam. The mother of Saad bin Abi Waqqas took off the cloth from her head and sat in the sun and stopped eating food. The son went to her and asked why she would not eat? When he learned that she had not taken kindly to his embracing Islam he said do whatever you want but I am not going to walk away from the Prophet PBUH of Islam.
